The Marcel Pagnol Prize at Fouquet’s

As part of its support to creation, the Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s Paris hosted the 20th edition of the Marcel Pagnol Prize on Monday June 13th. An evening in the presence of many personalities organized in the heart of the historic salons of the famous brasserie. It was an opportunity for Fouquet’s Paris to reconnect with its history, which is closely linked to that of the writer.

Indeed, Marcel Pagnol used to meet daily his friends and other writers such as Marcel Achard, Steve Passeur and Henri Jeanson at his “favorite table” in the heart of Fouquet’s Paris brasserie. In memory of this unique link that united the famous writer to Fouquet’s, a plaque located in the restaurant’s historical heart, adorns the walls and signifies the location of this table, a true place of inspiration.

Created in 2000 by Floryse Grimaud, the Marcel Pagnol Prize rewards each year a French novel that is in line with “literature of the origins”, the one that evokes the discoveries and emotions of youth.

Thus, it was alongside Aïmée Reategui (Director of Communications at the Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s Paris) that the jury awarded this year’s Marcel Pagnol Prize to Serge Toubiana for his book Le fils de la maitresse (Arlea). Through this support, Le Fouquet’s Paris confirms its commitment to culture.
