Synopsis

Cigalon runs a restaurant, but refuses to serve his customers. However, the opening of a competing establishment next to his by a former laundress, Madame Toffi, stimulates him a little. He treats a person who has come to eat at his place royally, calling him Monsieur le Comte, until he declares that he has no money to pay his bill… Finally, Madame Toffi marries Cigalon, believing him to be a clever businessman.
