Gémenos, a city of writers

“The writers who will grace our city for this new edition of the Book Fair will feel right at home. Gémenos has always inspired great creators.

It is here that Auguste Marin, novelist and poet, Félibre, friend of Frédéric Mistral, and founder of L’Almanach Marseillais, was born. Gémenos was also sung about by Stendhal, by Balzac, “I will live at the bottom of your beautiful Gémenos valley…” and by Victor Hugo, in exile, for whom Gémenos was another Guernsey. Here too, Marcel Pagnol filmed “Regain.”

No wonder our fair is the meeting point for all book lovers, young and old. Everyone will find something to enjoy, with literary cafes and meetings, workshops, and animations for children.

So welcome to everyone, for two days of discovery and shared pleasure.”

Roland Giberti, Mayor of Gémenos, Vice-President of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis
