Rehabilitation of the Bastide Neuve olive grove The Marcel Pagnol Endowment Fund, the Provence Culture Patrimoine association and the Compagnons de l’Olivier d’Aix en Provence (ACOPA) association have undertaken the rehabilitation of the Bastide Neuve olive grove. This multi-century olive grove, the scene of little Paul and Marcel’s games, froze, like all those in Provence, during the winter of 1956.

It was then ravaged by fire in 1979, 1983 and 1998. Nested for a century, it was only a shadow of its former self and the olive trees were suffocating under the pines, cysts and argeras. The work of clearing the brush has begun thanks to the support of many volunteers from all over France. The destination of this olive grove will be educational and cultural.

Educational because it will be maintained by students from agricultural high schools. Cultural because it will be part of the school’s “Marcel Pagnol hikes” which have been a great success for over 40 years. If you are interested in this beautiful project, you can support it either by informing yourself on our Facebook page of the next agricultural work meetings or by financially supporting the Marcel Pagnol Endowment Fund. https://www.okpal.com/fonds-marcel-pagnol/#/
