Restoration of 'Le Schpountz' car: Peugeot 601 Eclipse designed by Marcel Pourtout.

We propose you today to participate in the restoration of the Peugeot 601 Éclipse of 1937 which belonged to Marcel Pagnol. This car is the one you can see in the movie “Le Schpountz”. It is the very first convertible with an electric hard-top, a patent registered at the time by Peugeot. Unique bodywork made for Marcel Pagnol by the famous coachbuilder Poutrout.

The car was recovered in the 70s in the garage of the Château de la Buzine by a collector. It had been hidden under a haystack for more than 30 years, probably to hide it from the eyes of the German occupiers. Once restored, this car will be presented at the future Marcel Pagnol museum.
